Games Done Quick, a charity event where speed runners play video games as fast as possible to raise money. They host 2 events a year and raise millions of dollars for charities such as Médecins Sans Frontières and the Prevent Cancer Foundation.
I wanted to help show off the good work they do, so used import.io to gather the donation data from their site.
I then created an interactive data dashboard in Google Data Studio to enable people to explore the data and explore it.
You can filter to specific years, video games, charities and much much more. Let me know what insights you find in the comments below. And if you haven’t checked out the events, you can find out more on the GDQ website and YouTube channel. It’s hours of fun watching people complete video games from your childhood in insanely fast times, and it’s all for a good cause!

Really good cause and a great dashboard! I was wondering how you got the animations to work in Data Studio?
Why thank you :) Data Studio supports animated gifs, so it was just a case of me creating them to fit the size of the dashboard and then import them as images. Photoshop or GIMP are good tools for creating simple animated gifs – you can get a sense for it in this other tutorial I made https://datasaurus-rex.com/learn/tableau/how-to-make-animated-graph-gifs
