Global Airplane Crash Data

In light of the recent Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 disappearance, I have created the below tool for people to easily analyse the trends and details of aeroplane crashes since the 1920s.

As you can all see the number of crashes and fatalities has see a downward trend since 1998, so don’t let any media hype put you off flying. To help put things further into perspective;

  • Over the last 94 years, air travel has caused just over 0.11m fatalities
  • Road travel accounts for around 1.2m fatalities every year

I hope this tool helps people put a rational lense over this when it comes to travelling, and naturally, my thoughts are with the friends and families of those affected by this tragedy.
